چکیده

According to statistic data of China in recent years, gas explosion accounted for above 70% in all coal mine accidents. Frequent gas explosion accidents have caused great losses of lives and property. Therefore gas detection and monitoring system is needed to serve as a safety device in coal production. In this paper, an intelligent gas detecting system is designed. This detection instrument adopts SCM AT89S52 as its control hardcore and uses catalytic combustion type gas sensor element MC112 as the sensor for gas (CH4) detecting. The main functions of this system are as follows: monitoring the real-time concentration of CH4 and displaying the concentration value; emitting sound and light alarm signals if the CH4 concentration value is beyond the alarm value inputted by keyboard panel; using serial communication port to transmit data to the host computer above ground. The software debugging and hardware simulating of the system above are also implemented at the same time.

Estimation of coal seams gas content for evaluating potential use of methane drainage system in Tabas coal mine

Methane gas emission, accumulation, and explosion are the most important risk factors in underground coal mines. Hence, having a knowledge of methane gas emission potential in underground coal mines is of crucial importance in preventing the explosion risk, loss of life, and property, and providing miners' safety. The purpose of this work is to provide the prediction maps for the C1, C2, and B2...

Investigating the effect of fractures on unusual gas emission in coal mines; case study of Parvadeh coal mine, Iran

In the present study, an investigation was carried out on Parvadeh coal mine in Tabas, Iran, to survey the effect of fractures on unusual methane gas emission in coal mines. This coal mine was chosen for investigating because of its high methane gas content in the coal body and available data from sensors in desired locations. Gas concentration monitoring programs were carried out at the mine s...

Impacts of coal shrinkage, permeability and petrography on gas regime in mines Case study: Tahmoor coal mine, NSW, Australia

The volumetric changes in the coal matrix (Coal Shrinkage), permeability under various gas environment conditions as well as perographical properties were studied in the laboratory. The shrinkage and permeability of coal were examined with respect to changing gas type and confining pressures. The shrinkage tests were carried out in high-pressure bombs while the permeability study was conducted ...

An intelligent decision support system for revegetation and reclamation of land contaminated from coal mine wastes

Abandoned coal mine wastes can result in severe pollution and have aesthetic impact on the local environment. A range of reclamation techniques is available for substrate but only through the use of vegetation to stabilize coal mine wastes can complete long-term rehabilitation be achieved. Experimentation has been undertaken at coal mine sites to attempt to elucidate and overcome limitations to...
